Did you say TARDIS-themed polish!?

Today I’m bringing you something a bit different. I’ve compiled a group of TARDIS inspired polishes for you to peruse. My goal here isn’t to combat these polishes against one another, but rather to show you, the reader/future purchaser, what you can expect from these polishes. So, let’s get started!

Nail Pattern Boldness – Bigger on the Inside

Matted, duh!
Bigger on the Inside matte 1

First up is Bigger on the Inside made by Nail Pattern Boldness. It’s a bright blue jelly with silver micro glitter. The formula on this one is great. It applies with all the ease of watching 6 episodes of Doctor Who in one sitting. I have previously swatched this polish, along with the other polishes in the collection. But my photo taking skills have since been elevated, so these are new photos of this polish.  If you are interested in the original post - clicky here. The above shows 2 coats with no underwear. This polish, along with the rest of the Time Traveler collection can be purchased at the Nail Pattern Boldness Etsy shop, or at Llarowe.

Lucky 13 Lacquer – You Sexy Thing

Matted vinyl deliciousness.

You Sexy Thing matte 2

Sexy, isn’t she? This is You Sexy Thing by Lucky 13 Lacquer. It is a bright cobalt blue shimmer with a fantastic (read it in Nine’s voice!) formula. I have previously swatched this polish, along with 3 other polishes from Lucky 13 Lacquer’s Last of the Time Lords collection. You can view this polish, along with the others, by clicking here. The photos all show 3 coats, no underoos. You can purchase this polish, and all the others in the collection here at the Lucky 13 Lacquer shop.

Cult Nails – Time Traveler

Time Traveler 1

Time Traveler 2

Time Traveler 3

Time Traveler 4

This one takes me back to Nine and Ten, with a grungier TARDIS. Eleven has a mighty blue Blue Box. So Cult Nails Time Traveler is a nice stray from the norm. The formula was really superb on this one. It was a tad thick…but the good kind of thick. The kind of thick you look for. Time Traveler is part of the Cult Nails Super Powers collection.  The photos show 2 coats of Time Traveler with no underwear. This polish, along with tons of others, can be purchased here.

Digital Nails – My Other Car is a TARDIS

Oh yes, I did in fact matte it.

My Other Car is a TARDIS matte 1

Doing this post was so perfect, because I had been stalking this polish in Digital Nail’s Etsy shop since the moment she released it. I finally had an excuse to buy it! And I’m really glad I did! My Other Car is a TARDIS is a bright blue jelly that will deceptively make you think that you won’t be able to get rid of VNL. LIES I TELL YOU! To achieve the above look, I did 2 thin coats followed by a 3rd dabbed on coat. I’m a big fan of the depth going on in this one. It’s Idris approved! You can purchase this polish here. (Hint: Raphaelle miiiiiiight have some other Doctor related goodies in her shop.)

I Think You Call Me…Sexy

I Think You Call Me Sexy 1

I Think You Call Me Sexy 3

Matted, yo!

I Think You Call Me Sexy matte 1

Yes. Yes I do call you sexy. Here we have Nerd Lacquer’s I Think You Call Me…Sexy, derived from the amazing Neil Gaiman episode - The Doctor’s Wife. I previously swatched I Think You Call Me…Sexy, along with the other 2 polishes in the Madman with a Box collection. You can check that out here. As I state in that post, I had no issue with application, but the smell…..I could feel the fumes killing my brain cells. And it never actually dried…even giving 30 minutes between thin coats. What you are left with IS stunning….but the fumes and dry time must be considered. The photos all show 3 coats, no undies. Sadly, no buying information because…you know.

Dollish Polish – It’s Bigger on the Inside

Matted…because of reasons.

It's Bigger on the Inside matte 1

The last polish that I have to show you is It’s Bigger on the Inside by Dollish Polish. It’s a stunning bright blue shimmer base with silver micro glitter. And application was equally as stunning. I only wish that I could have gotten one of the old paper label designs…ya know, the one with the tiny TARDIS on the bottle. Oh wells, can’t win ‘em all. The photos above all show 2 coats, sans underwear. You can buy Dollish Polish here. It’s Bigger on the Inside is still in stock right now, but I can’t say how long that will be true.

Polishes used in this manicure: Etude House Base Coat, Dollish Polish It’s Bigger on the Inside, Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food, Seche Vite, and Butter London Matte Finish

So, what do you think about all of the TARDIS beauties? Do you own any of these/are you going to buy some, now that you’ve seen the examples of their sexiness? Also, I will continue to add TARDIS inspired indies as I find them. If you know of, or discover any that you would like to see on here, please leave me a comment about it. I will do my best to get my hands on a bottle. I test ‘em out so you don’t have to!

Geek & Love,

Mish

  1. Yay! Though I’m kind of embarrased that I didn’t even know someone had already named a Tardis polish “Bigger On The Inside”….Ooops!

    • The only embarrassment allowed on this blog is my own. :) And they aren’t technically the same. :D

    • (I’m the one who made the Lucky 13 one, hi!)
Oh man, I had SO much trouble picking out names for my collection that weren’t already taken! I was planning on using Allons-y for my Ten polish but then I saw you’d used that for yours and I couldn’t copy your name!

btw your colors are a-freakin’-mazing, I’m adding almost the whole Doctor Who collection to my wishlist :-) I actually just watched the episode Slow Invasion last night, now I get why it’s full of square glitter lol ;-)

      Happy Thursday to you! <3

    • Ladies, I’m sure that, like the TARDIS (and the coat), the Doctor has plenty of things that are bigger on the inside ;) so I’m sure it’s fine for both polishes to be named the same, it’s just a different “inside” in each one.
By the way, if you want to get that slightly more battered look of the 9th/10th Doctor’s TARDIS, this is a tip from the actual props team who make the various interiors, as well as the box itself, and the larger set pieces. LAYER! Use a white base, add a thin layer of blue. Get a bit of plastic and put some thin (you may want to add a bit of polish thinner because it wants to be very thin so it doesn’t dry out before you finish) clear varnish on, then add a few tiny dots of deep red, bronze, black or dark grey, randomly. Then get a brush and dip it vertically into the result. Apply it with a few strokes, some sweeping, some shorter, rotating the brush each time. (Don’t worry about smooth results here) Dip into a new area of your clear speckled varnish each time. The result, on your nail, should be smudgy streaks of grime, with the slight suggestion of blood stains and an occasional metallic glint. You might want to add another layer if you want. Then put a layer of blue (use your cheapest “almost” TARDIS blue here) let them dry thoroughly (the hardest part) get a nail buffer and buff ‘em smooth. (Now you see why it wasn’t important to keep that grime layer smooth, you just had to be patient!) So, hard work done, now apply a thin layer of your fave TARDIS blue (you don’t want to completely cover up all your hard work. If if is too thick for your liking, a very gentle buff will only add to the effect) add a matte top coat and you are done. (This also looks really cool with an accent nail, you need a creamy/yellow white, use tape to define the six windows (it will depend on the size and shape of your nail, where best to put them.) It’s not essential but, if you want to, you can use a fine paintbrush and varnish remover to remove all your carefully crafted blue (but it leaves you with a nice indentation, perfect for your window effect.) Thin layer of your base coat, add your window colour and the shiniest topcoat you have to make them glassy. Except, of course, for the two bottom corners which want to be as matte as possible. Hopefully, you will end up with your windows still looking like they are set into the wood.)
I hope you like this little “tutorial”, I’d love to be able to show you a picture but I injured my neck the other day so my hands aren’t working too well right now or I’d do a “how to” for you.

  2. With my endless love for blue polish and Doctor Who this post is actual PORN. They’re all gorgeous and I just spent several minutes looking at all of them, trying to decide on a favorite. Nope, not gonna happen. Great post!

  3. Seriously. Look how pretty they are! Your blog makes me want to watch a bunch of these shows so I can understand the references. XD

  4. I have the one from Dollish Polish (haven’t use it yet) and the one from Cult Nails. Both look stunning. :D

  5. I have both Bigger On The Inside polishes plus Time Traveller (and still not watched the Christmas Special. I want to watch it with my boyfried, and we didn’t have the time yet)

  6. NailTardisPorn, nice!
Can be so hard to find an accurate Tardis blue!
